Honestly, I came to America hoping to find a place where women would gain some kind of equality with men. But i realized that America did not promise me that. Instead, it was quite similar to China's traditional ways. I end up not gaining such freedom. Even though i was capable of getting my education, people still doubted me and thought i was not able to succeed. I was hurt by the way America treated me and sometimes i wished to go back to China.
The US seems like the ideal place to live. I wish we actually make. I wish I actually made it. life would be better in America, but that journey that we took it was life changing. it changed everyone's views on us as immigrants. So I guess putting our lives at risk was worth it.
